The CHAI Semi-Independent Living Program (SIL), named the number one priority after an extensive strategic planning process, will provide adults with cognitive disabilities the opportunity to live in their own apartment as independently as possible. Candidates must have the skills to live at this level of independence. Safety, security, and personal development will be emphasized. The plan is for 10-12 single story one bedroom apartments with a "commons" area; one unit will be designated for on-site, live-in staff. The immediate task at hand for the SIL committee is to identify and purchase property to develop - approximately one and one half acres.
